Thanks for the replies guys.
Q: i havent had my stools checked this year but mid last year i had various stool analysises which were normal aside from severe dysbiosis. I do take probiotics (kefir and kombucha tea) together with my psyllium. The last upper GI i did was in 2012 which showed nothing including the biopsies. I do take the rectal pentasa but stopped the oral since that was doing nothing. I have been the same since coming off it.
TMP: yer i have tried diet mods (low fod map and general food diary) but have not seen an obvious correlation with food. The only things I know i am not good with are too much cream (ie. lactose) and chocolate on and empty tummy...
I do admit that my symptoms are exacerbated by stress. Just in the last month I have been travelling for business. Each week for the last 4 weeks, I have been stationed at a new state in Australia, so Ive been living out of a suitcase for the last month basically.
Ive had to do all this travel whilst still studying my CA (Chartered Accounting, like CPA in America) too, so after work, its basically study. My weekends are study too, so my life is pretty much work and studying. I still have 4 units so if I pass everything, ill be done by end of next year but CA is hard and lots of ppl fail the first time. I am not sure if my body can hold out that long.
My treatment plans are also basically on hold till i get a rest bite from studies because some of the medication I plan to take can interfere with cognition (ie. antidepressants) so I cant take them till I complete studies. I have some LDN which I intend to try after my upcoming exam and havent started it because I was fearful it would affect my memory and cognition. Id like to try Wellbrutin too, but again that'll have to wait till after CA.
Add to this, the firm I work for has had a decline in revenue so they are cutting staff and budgets and expecting current personnel to fill in the gaps. Given that all the auditors in my year are simultaneously studying as well as working, I dont think its fair to push us so hard as we are already juggling our CAs and full time work.
Obviously all the above is taking an emotional toll too so I am not sleeping all that well. I get annoyed by small things and I resent that i cant give my tummy the attention it needs because of work and study commitments. I cant really leave my work because the employment market isnt doing well in Australia. Most industries are slashing staff and besides, I only have 1 years experience so I am not very marketable myself.
I really am not happy. Even prior to work my tummy was playing up (say 4 BMs per day, urgency when eating, loose/diarrhea) but with work and studies, ive noticed a marginal worsening of my symptoms. The only thing that helps is imodium which ill have to take (again) for this week's business trip... :'-(
I try to think that itll be worth it in the end and try and remember that its not that I dont have possible treatment avenues lined up but rather I have to put them on hold for now. Having said that, its hard to be entirely positive when u are running to the toilet mid way or shortly after a meal and having random frequent BMs with diarrhea and mucus.
