Maybe someone can clarify this for me......how would believing that there will be NO cure take hope from anyone who believes it does?
This is a "do you believe" thread....not a "what do you think of quincy" thread.
Well, you're right, it is a "do you believe" thread. But it's not a insignificant thread such as let's say:
Do you believe in Aliens?
and if you say yes or no, well it doesn't really make any difference in anything for the regular folk.
However, we are on the U.C. board with an annoying disease. Everyone wants to be cured, etc from this disease and I think, everyone would like to believe a cure is in the works. So it kinda gives hope to see other people share the same enthusiasm...it's a psychological thing, difficult to explain.
More so, for someone that is recently diagnosed. They desperately want the disease to stop, drop in this thread and see someone say "absolutely no cure" ....then they "faceplam".
Let's hypothesize that there will never be a cure, preposterous notion, but let's pretend for the sake of argument. It is much better for morale and such to believe that there is one coming.
Kinda, like in battles, when they have trumpeters, drummers, banner men, I mean these things realistically don't make any difference, but it energizes the people fighting, gives them hope..There were fights that drummers kept beating even through their side was losing and badly. You gotta do your thing until the end.
I tend to follow your realistic approach, but in life sometimes, you have to have faith. To summarize, basically you have to believe even if you don't really believe all that much. So, if someone asks you, do you believe a cure is coming. You go: Ya, ya! Then everyone is pumped.
