Some of the folks may have noted over the period of time that I am more worried about my migraine than my UC itself. I can manage UC pretty well, but migraine used to drive me nuts. I am participating in a Botox trial but it doesn't help at all.

Some folks may have also noted that my son has Autism. There is a strong gut connection in Autism and there is more and more research coming out about messed up Gut flora in Autism. In an attempt to streamline gut flora, in other words, to start over, I adopted Chlorine Dioxide (CD) method. Before someone goes and shouts, its bleach, let me be blunt, it is not bleach. I took this decision after a pretty good reading.

Since I was going to put DS on it, I started a month before him. I needed much higher dose so I assumed if there is going to be any adverse effect, I would notice it first, even before he starts it. The start was extremely troublesome. At every dose ramp up, I would get headache, much worse than I would get otherwise, and it would stick around. Still I kept the schedule and kept increasing the dose. It took me about 2 months to reach the dose that I should have reached in a month.

Fast forward, this is my 4th month and I am glad to report, in last 7 weeks I have not had any headache/migraine (first time in last 8.5 years). Absolutely nothing has changed except the incorporation of CD. I stopped it 2 days ago primarily because the use of CD demands you discontinue some kind of foods and supplements. Because of my Verapamil use, I was constipated a lot and the straining during BMs led to hemorrhoid issues. I will not use it until it gets in line and then I will start again.

My theory in this migraine relief.
I always though there was a connection because
- Diagnosed almost at the same time as UC.
- None of the standard migraine medications work. Even Percocet doesn't work
- Only NSAIDs work and looking at NSAIDs mode of action some literature hinted towards GI link.
Presence of UC most likely cultivated the kind of flora that is either not welcome in the gut or present in much higher numbers than they should be. Plus, CD as an agent is pretty dumb oxidising agent that has no other property and can do only this job. So I really have no other place to point to.

This is my theory and of course I am open to critique, as I really want to maintain my migraine free days. If I am making any mistake in either understanding or something, fine tuning suggestions are welcome.
