On this site, I am the person who 1st convinced a core of people to try oregano oil . As I recall, it was my first post here. "oregano oil... huge change" 6/7/13
Barry, I had looked at those same concerns regarding liver. The longest I took the oil was 3-4 months. I did have my G.P. run liver blood tests as well. The tests came back fine.
For anyone else interested, I started WOO when I was in good shape. Not sure if anyone would be helped while in a flare or recently finished a steroid treatment. I was semi under control prior w/ proper diet no meds for a solid period ( 6 months or more). Damage is or can be very slow. To get a handle on your colitis takes time and is truly gauged in blocks of months/years.
From that stable base line Wild Oregano Oil very quickly (shocking quick) took me to a level never experienced. Zero meds prior or during. Two drops to the mouth every morning. Healthy weight gain, 5 ft. 8 from 152 lbs to 165 lbs. feeling really well... Lasted over a year, until this summer.
That feeling of being so well slowly led to cocky/risky food choices. Looking back, damage always happens slowly. Took six months to break my colon down to a level were I was not... under control. It happened quickly near the end.
Currently back on Imuran, wondering how long it will take to get myself back to a baseline.
One note, while on Oregano Oil my craving for snack food nearly dissipated.
My bad bacteria loves veggie chips and gluten.
Word from the not so wise. Control your food or let your colon control you.
My profile needs updating.
