I'm feeling overwhelmed....I think I am pretty sick actually!
It's not UC, but of course its all UC related. To give you a bit of background info, I did what everyone does when they contract UC, I looked at my diet, kept a food diary for a month, then tweaked a few things and I was fine. Not long after I got GERD, I stopped e-cig smoking, tweaked my diet again and I was good to go. Then I realized my stomach was ballooning up alarmingly, and figured something was wrong, so I went Gluten Free, not terribly difficult, but you have to be committed to it.
Now the worst thing has happened! Initially I put my itchy eyes, tiredness, sensitivity to strong smelling household cleaners and perfumes, slightly swollen ankles, dry mouth, dry skin, and brain fog, all down to various ailments of UC, never thinking it was anything else, but as of Tuesday I have thrush everywhere!....and upon research I am shocked to find all of the above mentioned symptoms are classic symptoms of Systemic Candidiasis!
I think what's happened is that when I went Gluten Free, I bought biscuits, and various other treats to eat (I'm not smoking and I needed something) but the problem is that some of these products are full of sugar, and its tipped the balance I think, I have been feeling "off" for a long time, and now I know why. I have taken a Diflucan, and I am taking Candex, but my diet is now so limited that it is depressing, and also some Candida diets you read about during research, say you can eat one thing, and then another diet says you can't, so this is obviously going to be quite tricky!
I do have a fairly clear view of what I need to include in my diet, but wondered if anyone has any ideas regarding supplements, or anything else that I should be taking to help my immune system, with a view to aiding the healing process, bearing in mind it has to be something that doesn't make my UC worse. I think I will have to be on a very strict Candida diet for at least a month, and then continue on a less strict Candida diet for a few more months, so any thoughts would be appreciated.
