let me put it this way. i eat fiber that has "purpose." my body has never done well with large amounts of fiber but a diet of strictly animal products gets boring. i completely contribute my IBD diagnosis to a high fiber diet. these days, i honestly use it more as a condiment than something to get substantial calories from. i do best with watery fruits/veggies and then some RS like potatoes, green bananas, and sweet potatoes. i also eat fermented fibers like sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles for the probiotics.
you will not see me eating stuff like brussel sprouts, kale, broccoli- they are just poop fillers and constipate me to no end.
i track my fiber daily in my food diary so a sample day would go something like- 2 tbsp sauerkraut, 1/2 of a cucumber (peeled, deseeded), a cup of honeydew melon, 1/2 of a small raw potato, 1 cup of baked pumpkin, and 1/2 of an avocado. since the cucumber and melon have so much water, i usually eat them as "free" foods just because i love them.
