Nope. Meslamine is a topical, anti-inflammatory medication (although it is non steroid). The key word is topical. Meslamine has a delayed-release coating that begins dissolving once it reaches the PH of your large intestine, and its content is spilled slowly as it travels it's length. The medication lines the walls of the large intestine. 90 percent of meslamine goes out of your body when you poop, the rest comes out when you pee ( it can change the color of your pee slightly). NSAID drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen aren't topical, but go through the entire body (you swallow a NSAID to treat a headache). NSAID drugs are bad for patients with uc, and should be avoided (take Tylenol or its generic equivalent instead).
