While they may be connected by the microbiome in the gut, they are still separate issues and not connected to each other. UC doesn't not produce IgE increase levels.
I totally agree that we should all try to help our digestive flora to be as balanced as possible.
two things that help are probiotics and fibre/carbs (just using it as a general term) for them to feed on and to help sweep out any invaders it's able.
We also pick up those nasty superbugs...sometimes the problems aren't in our guts but those who crap them out and we pick them up even though we aren't the ones taking the antibiotics indiscriminately.
Can I stress handwashing for everyone and not sharing a communal hand towel...yikes.
