Tunnel, yes there can most certainly be a disconnect between symptoms and the scope results. I was 4-5 bms a day and my inside looked "like ground hamburger" before I started remicade. GI was talking up surgery based on what he saw, gave me the surgeon's name and asked me to check insurance, unless remi worked. Fortunately remi did work and very well.
The truth is we learn to adapt and live well despite the urgency, and watery stool. It becomes normal to us, when it goes on for many months, and not so bad (heck it could be and was worse before). So, we're feeling good despite the inflammation reality a scope shows. We're in disbelief that it can get better... etc.
A real bad scope can spur us on though. At least it did for me. And I'm glad because now I'm 1 bm a day. You don't realize how bad off you are, until you are better off and don't have to worry about
