She has been prescribed antibiotics twice for flu/virus and I have not given them to her and just let her get better without them. I know they can trigger flares.
Did you mean antibiotics for a cold? Because if her doctor is giving her antibiotics for a virus I'd get a different doctor. Viruses you just have to let work out on their own, antibiotics are used for bacterial infections.
I know people say antibiotics can trigger UC, but I took antibiotics all my life and didn't develop UC until I was 21 years old. I mean it could have just taken that long to develop I guess, but I think if you were to build up the good bacteria afterwards she'd be ok. I understand how concerned you are though. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I feel good now, but when I was in the worst flare of my life I wanted to perform a colectomy myself in my living room with my bare hands lol. You know what's best for you child. Just go with your gut. (no pun intended
