Omg, sometimes we have to find humor in difficult situations or we would just be depressed and crying all the time.
Please don't feel alone with the urgency and humiliation. My husbands side of the family all have stomach issues ( I am the only one with UC , they all have IBS )
When we have family get togethers , the conversation is always about someone having a D accident. One might have pooped their pants in the car, one had to go in the woods and is now afraid to go out due to this happening again. Of course at the time, they are humiliated, but when telling the story we are all have a laugh out of it!
I remember when my proctitis would flare, I would sometimes not make it to the toilet. Although at the time I did not get D, I would have a mucus mess! Many times this has happened. I learned to keep some extra undies in my car.
You would be surprised on how many people have issues. It is just not UC or Crohns peoples. I can't count home many times my mother had an attack from too much coffee (she was another one who would have to find the nearest gas station when driving)
As for someone wanting to talk when you need to go. Tell them to hold that thought, I will be right back!
Tina, your post made me feel so good. :) I really thank you for sharing those stories.
