So, I had a flare simmering for a few weeks that finally blew over the past week or so. When it first started, the bulk of my symptoms were rectal - so I doubled up on suppositories (Canasa and Hydrocort), which usually helps. As I posted previously, I started having severe pains up my left side - CT scan showed significant inflammation/swelling on the left side which was trapping poo and creating a blockage. My doc put me on steroid enemas for the first time - I have used those 2 nights in a row. He said to check in on Monday or Tuesday and let him know how I was doing- we will make the call on prednisone (or maybe Uceris, from what some of you have shared) at that time.
I don't have the horrible pressure anymore, and have had a couple of movements over the past couple of days that were better. I haven't so far today, but that may be because I had a really hard time eating yesterday and didn't eat much. Stuff is coming out of me, but I think it's more of whatever can get around what's still swollen - kind of a blood/mucus/liquid mix, but not really stool. When I push I still feel like there is resistance up on the left side that is blocking it, but again, the general swelling and pain has improved - although it's definitely still there.
Is this considered an improvement, or should the enemas have cleared things more by now? I just don't know what success looks like for this. Should I just bite the bullet and go to steroids? I was on vacation the past week (worst vacation EVER, by the way - haha) but have to go into work this week and am scared.
Thanks - I am so glad this board exists.
