1. has anyone had pancolitis flares followed by proctitis? I thought it went the other way around..?Yes, each flare is different, so it's possible to have only a flare limited to the rectum, and not the whole large intestine.
2. has anyone had "patches" in other areas of the colon? Most commonly, uc is continuous from the rectum, up the large intestine. Sometimes a section/patch can be located elsewhere with uc, however, that is most common with crohn's disease. If it was biopsied, you'd know which it was.
3. I'm having pain in the right and left areas of lower abdomen--i've been telling myself it's probably just because they took biopsies. How long are you all sore after your colonoscopies? I've felt sore for 2-3 or so days after a scope before.
4. Do rectals reach the right side of the colon to treat my "appendiceal orifice patch"? It doesnt seem like it would reach that far, especially since they recommend you lay on your left side? No, enemas reach the rectum and left-side only. Studies with barium enemas have shown the fluid to reach up to the splenic flexure (where the left-side meets the transverse colon). You'd need an oral medication to reach higher in the large intestine.
