I rarely bleed with flares....so whoever says bleeding is a first symptom is full of crap, and hasn't learned to pay attention to early flare/mild symptoms.
Inflammation happens in increments so if you have symptoms during extremely mild inflammation as flaring...you're flaring. To give you antibiotics because it's SUSPECTED you have diverticulitis without investigating is absurd. To depend on any fecal tests or blood test for a flare is again absurd.
A visual rectoscope would be more helpful to check if you have mild inflammation at least rectally.
Yes...you can mix supps with enemas. I agree with the possibility to try steroid supps during the day and 5ASA enemas at night.
