This thread's title would be a lot more accurate if it was "What symptoms do you least ignore?".
I used to be able to ignore diarrhoea quite easily. It honestly never really bothered me - better out than in. That was in the days when I only had diarrhoea by itself really and none of the fun accompaniments, such as extreme urgency, rectal pain, butt burn, passing about
a teaspoon of stool and needing to pass another teaspoon in 5 minutes' time, etc. I can no longer ignore the massive pain up the arse (sometimes literally so) production that going to the toilet has become.
Nothing really freaks me out, though. I don't understand people who are absolutely terrified of common symptoms - depressed and anxious, yes, but terrified? I don't get it. I think I get more freaked out at the thought of having to deal with the NHS more than anything else - sometimes I really just can't face the prospect of waiting around weeks for tests, chasing up test results, waiting a few more weeks for appointments, etc.
Dx Crohn's in summer of 2000. (Yay )
Tried and failed: 5-ASAs, azathioprine, 6MP, Remicade, methotrexate, Humira, various diets.
Had surgery Feb '13 - subtotal colectomy with end ileostomy. First thing to put me into remission in 13 years.
Had second surgery 10th July '15 to reverse the stoma and connect the ileum to the rectum. Feeling rough.
