When I travel, I do not eat or drink for a few hours before leaving, for the duration of the trip. And take 1/2 or 1 full immodium. Seems to get me through it, usually. Just delays everything, but that's what you need.
Of course the worst thing is that exactly when you know you cannot access a bathroom quickly, that's when nerves make you feel you have to go.
Also avoid anything even slightly gassy the day before you leave, because the lower pressure on the aircraft make gas expand and feel a lot worse.
I used to travel for work and this is exactly what I used to do. I didn't eat or drink coffee starting the night before travel. I would take Imodium about
2 or 3 hours before the flight.
I have had this disease for 15 years now. Tolerable at first as I went into remission with drugs like prednisone and finaly Remicade. A few years ago, all of these drugs stopped working for me and my UC became much worse. I am currently on Chinese herbs and doing great. Good bye prescript
