Here's what I assume some of your user names mean. I don't let the contents of your posts cloud my preconceived notions of how I envision you from your user name.

GloGirl504 - has an aquarium filled with glo fish
Kevin Watson - a person whose name is not Kevin Watson, as it would be too obvious otherwise
Poppie - this person liked that scene in the Wizard of Oz but forgot the "s" at the end ("Poppies!")
Dikid - stylized way of writing "The Kid"; is a bit of an outlaw
Red_34 - a person who likes China and/or Russia
sherbear46 - likes sherbet and bears
suebear - also likes bears, twin of sherbear46
pb4 - has 4 kids who eat a lot of peanut butter
RockerGirl - likes to sit in a rocker while wearing heavy metal band t-shirts
timber55 - really tall person, like a tree
CCinPA - carbon copy of someone else, but this one lives in PA
ElpisUnbreakable - was watching "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" on Netflix while creating HW account & this person's initials are E.L.P.
blksteeda - a black horse with an extraneous a at the end
DBwithUC - D.B. Cooper

My wife is an avid bow hunter, season ended here a few weeks back, and we took her tree stand down. She grew up in mid Pennsylvania (pennsyltucky, Philadelphia on one end, Pittsburgh on the the other, and Kentucky inbetween :-) ), where schools close on the first day of hunting season, it's a holiday there. I grew up shotting cans and targets, never got into hunting, myself.

I missed a six point this season, very upsetting, but it was only my second time out for deer and I saw a lot of them. I had a lot of fun and don't plan on quitting anytime soon! My dad recently gave me a muzzleloader he built, so I'm looking forward to trying that hunting sometime. I have always fished but have just gotten into hunting, and also just got my first fly rod :) opening day for gun is considered a good excuse for an absence where I grew up. Unfortunately I had to move to the city this year so it makes it really inconvenient. Also can't stand it, it's dirty, smelly, and noisy and hard to get out of :(

My bf also shoots and has never hunted. He collects historical guns. :)

it's my dream, if i could i'd catch the dentist who shot lion Cecil and then... i'd hang him by his legs and pierce his ..... with as many bows as possible. in fact, i'd do the same not only with him but with all the hunters because when someone looks at an animal and feels like hurting it, this person is utterly deviated not worthy to inhabit the planet of normal people

Well that's certainly not the type of hunting I do... First and foremost, it's for food and to enjoy my time outside. It's also an important part of conservation - fees for licenses help support states in managing their wildlife. There are some hunters who don't care about taking ethical shots or "fair chase", but that's very important to me. Not to mention I'd rather harvest an animal that got to live freely than a farmed one.

I'm an animal lover, I don't want to torture animals. I don't see an animal and immediately want to kill it. A good hunter has respect for the environment and it's inhabitants, in my opinion. No poaching, no littering, etc. Use good judgment.

From what I've read, lion hunting doesn't involve much in the way of fair chase. I wish people would learn a bit behind regulations, etc, before lumping some of us in with a bunch of yuppie trophy hunters. I am not arguing that there aren't unethical, bad people out hunting, but I am not one of them and I won't be friends with those who are.

Hahahaha, that's hilarious!!!! Mine is pretty boring and I shortened it for signing into HW, pb4 is short for poohbear4ever because I couldn't find remission with any meds docs put me on (until Humira finally a couple of yrs ago) but I'm still pooping 4ever since I also have IBS and lactose intolerance...seems I must have had some premonition that I would 4-ever be cursed with pooping more than normal for the rest of my life.

A famous French judge, Gerard Charollois, once said an often quoted statement (you can google it in French) that hunters are deviants for whom killing weaker and harmless creatures is a form of compensation for their extremely low self esteem and inferiority complexes. I absolutely agree with him.
Here's another link about "animal lovers" who love animal's long suffering and agony (pains inflicted with bows are much horrible so congrats, you "used good judgement", it's really "good" choice)

Let's be nice to the hunters, even if you agree to disagree with it. Let's get back on topic.

My personal take is this. My DW is a conservation biologist and nearly all of them hunt and fish, as the science available supports it. To conserve nature, it must be managed in a sustainable and healthy way. Before humans upended the natural balance of things, wolves and other apex predators kept the deer herd populations in-check. Now there's population booms and crashes without predators on the watch. Deer breed excessively, eat all of the available food in an area, and the population crashes due to starvation. Personally, I'd rather have a managed, healthy, and sustainable population of deer for an area rather than the opposite. Reintroducing wolves and other apex predators is slow going, and most communities resist/balk. Controlled and managed hunting fills the void and as long as it is for food, and sustainable then I'm okay with it. And the carbon footprint on a local deer is far lower than steak shipped from many states away.

skyflyerjen: I love the thought of flying. I'm not a pilot but I want to FLY! and my name is Jenna. Nobody calls me Jen but I thought dropping the "na" at the end sounded better.
Btw... NCOT... thank you for solving the mystery that has plagued me! Haha. :)
