So, as some of you know, I don't have insurance right now. Really great. And I've been having some problems. I don't think it's my UC but maybe you guys would have some insight.

It started with pain on the right side of my groin. I thought it might be a UTI or something. I did have some spotting which is weird for me. This came and went for a while. Then it started being all the time. Sometimes I'd have pain in the area of my right hip. This pain feels twinge-y. Not really a shooting pain or anything. (I've been pooping and farting fine this whole time too.) Now sometimes it is to the right of my navel, a few times above, and on my side and kind of where my gallbladder was. I've pressed everywhere and it doesn't seem to make it worse. However, when I lay on my right side I do feel some pressure. The pain isn't awful but it's all the time. I can't wear tight pants/jeans (unfortunately I have to for work, too).

I will go to the dr if I have to, but I get insurance in March sometime. Mostly I want to put my mind at ease I guess. I've been drinking a lot of water to see if it would help and I can't tell any difference. If I think it's GI, I can call my GI nurse. If not, I can call the regular nurse. If you guys think it's something female specific, then I will make an income-based appointment at PP. Probably any of the nurses would tell me to come in but I'm not made of money! Concentra I could afford, I'm just unsure about lab costs.

Thanks guys

Kind of sounds like the pain I got from having an ovarian cyst.

How long did it last? What did you do about it?

Sounds like ovulation...some can be much worse than others.

Yes, it could be a cyst...if you were doubled in pain, it could be a burst cyst.

Do you have endometriosis?

Are you on a bc pill?

My ovarian cyst, unfortunately had to be laproscopically drained. But I am prone to follicular cysts. The one I had drained was a constant pain and as it got bigger the pain became worse.

I just went to the bathroom a while ago and there was some tissue looking stuff in the bowl. Just a tiny bit. No endometriosis (had a pelvic exam last year) and no bc for a long time.

Would the ovulation cause pain for this long tho and in such a wide area?

I suppose if it doesn't improve soon I'll call up PP.

the tissue looking stuff is mucus and stool.

You might have eaten something that disagreed, but if you are ovulating, and or have had some discharge...that means hormonal swing or something like that.

It could affect your colon...yes. The prostaglandin changes can quicken the colon and cause loose stool or diarrhea.

So...when are you expecting your period?

I suggest you to take your basal temp every morning before you get out of bed...you'll see if your temp increases steadily (then you probably did ovulate. The day it drops..you'll be starting your period probably within 24 hours.

No, I just had the cyst drained - no ovary removed :)

EP, you really should just go see the doc. I know you don't have insurance but if it's bothering you to the point of concern then you should still see the doc.

Quincy, that stuff definitely didn't come out of my butt. Happened again too. (Very tiny piece each time.) Period should be starting in a few days.

I know, I just hate to pay so much at urgent care when they've never impressed me. Monday I was planning on at least calling the nurse and seeing what she thinks.

COULD. Unlikely. I have a test, so I was planning on taking it if my period fails to start (obviously)

Well, update. I was having some weird spasm feelings in my abdomen, so I decided to go to the dreaded urgent care this morning. I took a pregnancy test first (negative) because I figured they'd want to do one. They wouldn't see me! They told me to go to the ER JUST because they can't do ultrasounds there. They hadn't even heard everything yet. God forbid they do a UTI test or a pelvic exam.

So now I get to work all week and try to get in to planned parenthood sooner. I ordered UTI tests to rule that out or whatever. Meanwhile my bloodwork is due and I can't afford it.

Right. Way too much for me. Also I feel like I could get an appointment for that, not go to the ER. PP does income based care if I can get ahold of my birth certificate. Maybe they'd accept a picture of it.

On the plus side, my GI is pushing my bloodwork back for me.

Period doesn't mean you're not pregnant...keep that in mind. Some women have had periods all along and never realised they were pregnant...and all of a sudden WTH? oopsie.

Keep us updated for sure.

I took a pregnancy test before I went to urgent care. :) Yesterday and today not feeling too terrible. Hurts under my ribs when I breathe or touch it, don't really get why. Trying to call PP again. Ugh! Hate my life lately.

Wow. I can't handle this, Planned Parenthood won't see me because I need a gynecologist. No freaking crap. Why do they think I called? According to the website they should be able to help me. I don't understand???

Just did my home UTI test. Leukocytes showed positive and nitrates were negative, so I'm gonna redo it in the morning and see what it says. Going to U of M on the 6th. At least someone is going to look at me.

Serenity, this is the list of things they supposedly help with at the Detroit location but not for me I guess:

checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem <--- *AHEMHEM*
breast exams
cervical cancer screening
colposcopy
cryotherapy
LEEP (treatment of abnormal pap)
mammogram referrals
Pap test
urinary tract infections – testing and treatment <--- *COUGH*
vaginal infections – testing and treatment
Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.

Well if that's the case..... I don't understand why they don't help you?? Is it for anyone who walks in off the street, or do you have to qualify somehow?

Anyway I'm glad you at least are going to be seen by someone on the 6th but that's still a few days away. Better than nothing.

Wow....didn't realise one could do home UTI testing!
very confusing for you to be discounted because you don't have a gyne. Imagine the frustration of women who call daily.

Love your added comments....no kidding!

It's hopefully some comfort that you'll be seen within the week. Who are you seeing by the way?

Serenity, it's supposed to be for anybody. But she just asked if I was on bc or if I had an IUD and when I said no she said I had to go somewhere else.

quincy, same, I just searched on amazon and found some tests. This morning's was totally negative (???). I generally hear nothing but good about PP, and my friend had good experiences, so I was really confused. I don't know the doctor's name, just that it's at U of M's Family Practice where I normally go and generally have a good experience.

I've been feeling pretty good except that yesterday I had to hustle around a kid who is essentially a 200lb baby at work. Got pinched and slapped too! Feeling it today.
