glogirl, were you prescribed vanco, too??
i've kind of become a c diff pro after doing 4 stinking rounds of antibiotics for it. my "routine" is always lots of probiotics- culturelle and saccharomyces boulardii. those are the only two that the antibiotic wont kill off. vanco kills off all the others like vsl and renew life so taking them during the course is a serious waste of money since the vanco is designed to stay in your system for the entire course of treatment. i am always on 125 mg, 4x daily for 1-2 months. i still eat probiotic foods during but definitely load up after treatment.
also, vanco depletes your electrolytes and gives me TERRIBLE restless legs, shakiness, dizziness, neuropathy, cramps. uhh it just sucks. make sure to supplement with magnesium, sodium, potassium and calcium or you will be miserable the whole time you take it.
Yep, Vanco. I'm currently in the middle of a prior authorization insurance issue that could take 5 business days to resolve, and an emergency supply is $865. I can't wait, I have to get this in my system pronto.
That...sounds like a nightmare. I want to feel better, not worse! I'm glad you warned me ahead of time, though. I didn't know that about
the probiotics. I'll have to run to the store (if I can manage to not have to poop for an hour) and get some. I'm already on a probiotic but not those specific ones.
