Hi Disneygirl, I have recently been diagnosed with UC and went onto the SCD mid flare.
I can put my hand up and say I had success with the diet as I was unmedicated when all symptoms including urgency/pain/blood/mucus stopped a couple of months back now.
I have stuck strictly to the diet and ensure that all animal products are grass fed wherever possible and if I am ever unsure of anything I just leave it out at this early stage. Just stick to the book and give it time until you find out whether it works or not for you. It doesn't work for everyone so keep that in mind.
I make my own 24hr yoghurt and consume it at breakfast and also in the evening as a desert with stewed fruit as I seem to be handle that well now. I use a basic yogurt maker and nothing too complicated or expensive like this one http://greenlivingaustralia.com.au/yoghurt-maker
I do use mesalazine foam enema twice a week now for maintenance at the recommendation of my GI. My GI is very
open minded about
the diet and other methods but wanted to make sure I have all bases covered just in case the diet doesn't work out in the long run.
Good luck and Happy New Year!
