If your UC is mostly controlled and while on vacation it acted up like what you state, it can be from a variety of things. Virus, bacterial or just over overindulgence of things you normally don't consume. Since you already have an appt with your doc and if you can't get in to see him sooner, the best you can do at the moment is to stick to a low residue diet. Such as chicken, fish, rice, potatoes - basically foods that are easy to digest. This will help your colon not to work as hard. Stay away from spicy foods, alcohol, caffeine, raw fruits and veggies, seeds and nuts as they tend to aggravate an already sore gut. But when you see your GI, ask for a stool test. A stool test can help determine what is causing you the extra grief if it isn't just flare related.
