I have mild, but extensive UC. My second and worst flare.
I took Salofalk Enemas for 3 weeks. Then my GI told me they aren't necessary, so for the next 2 weeks I stopped taking them.
Then over time I felt as if the beginning of my colon got worse. A couple of days ago I started having dull and continual left sided pain(about
the height of the navel), that part of my abdomen was less softer, I had a lot more mucus and I had blood in the bowl once(which I never have, just hidden bleeding).
So I assumed that the left part got worse and I resumed using the enemas. The next day I felt much fell better. Much less pain, didn't see any blood and didn't see the strong signs of mucus like the day before. So I used it again the next night and the dull continual pain COMPLETELY STOPPED, the abdomen was soft again.
Yesterday, I couldn't have a complete BM, so I didn't want to waste an enema (they are expensive and I am paying out of my pocket). I didn't use it. Today, I feel a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling in the left side.
I don't have much experience with this disease so I was wondering whether it's possible for the enemas to have such a strong effect.
Also, can the enema reach the colon as far as the height of the navel ?
