I realize there is limited experience with this here but here goes...has anyone used rowasa or other rectal meds while healing from an abscess or fistula surgery? I asked my surgeon if it was OK and he wanted me to hold off until everything healed up. Unfortunately, healing is taking longer than expected and I've felt like I've had a flare simmering for week or so now with daily gas pains and mild cramping. I'd really like to try to nip it in the bud don't want to interfere with the healing process.

I would follow your surgeon's orders. You do not want to compromise the healing of a fistula/abcess.
