No I don't do anything special--too lazy I guess. I used to mix it up in various things, sometimes coconut oil, but figure since I take 4 g per day (4 500 mg pills at breakfast and 4 pills at dinner) that's probably sufficient. I do put coconut cream in my tea and coffee in the AM instead of milk, that may help.
Somewhere I read (was it here?) that black pepper was not good for stomach lining. I have never been a fan of black pepper but boy howdy my gut did not like it in curcumin capsules, probably a stronger version of black pepper.
When I go out to eat I have to remember to always request no pepper on anything cause it is ALWAYS on meat it seems, my husband helps me remember, then some places get worried I'm allergic and I have to say "No, I won't have an anaphylactic fit." haha
Good luck with curcumin, it's been very good for my UC. I did not start out at 4 g, started at 1 g. and moved up, I probably could take more but since I'm doing fine at 4 g I stopped there. Medical studies said up to 8 g. daily had no adverse reactions.
edit to add: I see my Profile notes say 3 g so that needs to be updated, been on 4 g for many months
