I have been taking 50g Prednisone for 2 weeks, the first couple of days seemed to hit the mark, and the bleeding receded. The last six days have been difficult; I feel like I am now not getting any better at all, on rising in the morning the toilet is full of blood with no proper bowel movement, not even 'rabbit droppings' I'm just not Pooping. The crux of my problem is food..if someone had told me a year ago a tomato, cucumber or the wrong lettuce leaf, could make someone very sick I wouldn't have believed them.
I am sulfite, salicylate, oxalate, histamine intolerant with amine issues and gluten and dairy intolerant too, this means my diet currently consists of a total of around 15 foods, which results in my not being able to eat the right foods, to get things moving correctly. If I stray off the good foods and cheat I become VERY ill, a good example of this, was a mildly spiced dish the other day, which changed my voice from normal to hoarse and raspy within an hour. I have an epi pen as there is a slight chance of an anaphylactic attack due to these issues.
But, back to my problem, the last three nights I have been up passing blood and mucus, trying not to strain, and today I took something for constipation and managed to go normally, this was the first time in a week! My colon hurts, and I seriously nearly passed out today.
I don't know what to do this evening if I am rolling around in pain in the middle of the night. I think it's probably just constipation. However, I don't know for sure. I don't like the hospital here, people don't go unless your desperate, accidents happen, people die, but I wonder if I am seriously getting worse. I think I need another Med on top of the Pred, which is a concern as my GI is back a week on Thursday, and so I will have to wait.
I have become worried about
the suggested azathioprine as I am just full of allergies, and feel it probably won't be the best for me, maybe the biologics are the thing, but I would really like to have the opportunity of trying LDN which might be the key, for someone like me, but not sure what I am going to do in the short term until I see my GI.
Any advice or ideas would be most gratefully received!
