Compelling and an interesting read, but what does this mean: "The researchers ran additional tests to see what happened when the two bacteria and the fungus interacted. Together the organisms produced a thin, slimy layer of microorganisms they say would be able to adhere to various organs in the body, including the intestines, which would likely cause the same type of inflammation known to affect people with Crohn’s."

So, the production of these microorganisms cause the systemic inflammation? Why though? How is there nothing we've put into our bodies for years upon years treated it? How does this equate remission in some patients? I want more answers! I'm ready to get to a specialty compound pharmacy so they can whip up the right probiotics for me, based on this research!

And, Connor, go ahead and vent, I understand and in many parts agree.

They were only just able to figure out to detect MAP in humans though (from my understanding of it; "Recently, John Aitken and his New Zealand team, in collaboration with a group in Europe, have discovered new methods to culture MAP related bacteria. Being able to accurately detect MAP or related Mycobacterial species in the human population is critical, but not readily available. One species of Mycobacteria that John’s New Zealand lab grew from patients with Crohn’s disease appeared similar to MAP, but not the same, and was thus nicknamed “Son of MAP.”

Don't be discouraged, this is really good news, they cannot find a cure if they cannot find the cause, they find the cause, they have a pretty good chance for the cure.
