Today I will finally finish my 7 day course of 2x/day antibiotics. I'm feeling so much worse, I live in the bathroom now, and my abdominal pain is so much worse. Assuming this is from the antibiotics, or maybe just from being sick, will it start getting better soon? Anyone else go through this?

Are you taking Probiotics? You've killed off all your good bacteria and it needs to repopulate.

If you don't get a little better in a few days then you should call your GI. Antibiotics can cause c.diff which would definitely make your symptoms worse.

I have an absolutely diabolical reaction to antibiotics. They honestly terrify me with how bad I get, as I can never even complete a 7-day course. The last time I needed antibiotics, I had a urinary tract infections and took the first amoxil, and within an hour I had the most violent diarrhea and pain of my life. I literally stayed on the toilet the entire night, so not only did I then have a UTI but also had a horrendous UC flare. I was so sore in the end that I just had to run a bath and stay in there. I honestly thought I'd need to go to hospital

Antibiotics can make our symptoms worse. It should be just temporary.

Antibiotics terrify me these days. For years they didn't seem to bother me (I was already going 20 times a day with heavy blood, so maybe I just didn't notice.) As time goes by, there are fewer and fewer I can tolerate. My reaction ranges from explosive diarrhea within hours of the first dose (Amoxicillin and others) to liquid stools a few times a day (Zithromax and a few others.) Today I just completed the 5-day course of Zithromax. I've made it through by using Lomotil a couple of times, but should be starting to get better now. My PCP is great, she always starts me out with a mega dose by injection, then goes through the list of abx I can take to see what might work. I go for least antibiotics, shortest course and careful selection of the medication.

Hell yes! that's exactly why I'm in this mess now. I took 3 abx in June to induce remission because I tested positive for MAP. Worst decision I've ever made.

The first time I got sick the ER didn't know what was wro g with me, they through like 3 high end antibiotics at me. I got way way worse. Then my first GI put me on Vancomycin (he said for cdiff. After he vanished, the next GI said my records showed I was c diff negative e all along....) and got even worse. I was out of work for a month. Haven't taken any antibiotic since to be honest, luckily. I've heard of a probiotics being used for flares, but it was t effective for me for sure.
