I live in a MM legal state where MM is indicated for IBD.

I don't want to smoke anything, in spite of the theory that smoking of any kind might be helpful.

The products available for medical use are endless and the dispensers don't have much advice. They suggested a tincture of the CBD component, free of THC which gives the high most users are after. Even one immodium gives a subtle sense of relaxation. Wouldn't a little THC help with symptoms? What do you think?

From their list I count 40 different types of the dried plant; 54 extracts; 112 edibles; 9 topicals. Who knew? And where does one start?

Israel seems to be the leader in studies on MM. Have you done any searches for medical studies? US is sadly not legally able to do much science in this area. You are lucky to be in your state, mine FL will likely approve MM this election but years before it gets off the ground and then probably only for few diseases, probably have to be dying.

My husband has UC, and we smoke probably 3 nights a week (just a little, not a lot) because he thinks it helps soothe the pain a little bit. He's mid flare

We have medical MJ in Alberta Canada as well, I've tried the CBD only (no high effect) and get nothing from it, I still have bowel movements and urges and feel pain after smoking it....I have to use strains with THC (the high effect) in order to get pain relief and a break from bathroom trips/urges.

Thanks pb4,

Did you every try another method of delivery, say edibles, other than smoking?

Sorry for my ignorance, but if you consume or smoke strains with THC are you also getting a CBD component?

It sounds like you, and most on the forum, are getting symptom relief. Help with inflammation would be nice too.

Hi naturalcurl,

I've never tried another method because I like to smoke, but doesn't mean I won't try edibles, it's about convenience right now basically.

I know for sure the Humira made a quick difference with the inflammation for me, not sure if the MJ did/does or not but it's a great pain relief and definitely gives me hours of breaks from running to the toilet (I still suffer with IBS even though my Crohn's colitis is in remission).

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll help as best I can :)

Hey there, I just created an account to perhaps help you out with this.

So, I live in a state with MM, and I was a bit hesitant to do anything related to cannabis since I've never been a smoker, nor had I really indulged in cannabis before this. However, after reading some really positive things about the CBD component of cannabis, I thought I might as well give it a try.

I was recommended by the dispensary I have locally to try what they call "Rick Simpson Oil" in the high CBD variety (they make a high CBD and a high THC version at my local place). They had a few patients in the past have success with it, so I thought it might be worthwhile. It is worth noting that the oil is taken orally, so it is not smoked or rubbed on the skin (although I've heard you can do the latter).

Basically what I do is I put a tiny (about the size of a piece of short grain rice) on one of my Lialda tablets in the morning, and then take it with water. I've noticed that since starting the oil, I've limited my bathroom trips enormously. I'd say it's gone from 20ish times a day down to maybe 7-8, sometimes less. It's the only thing that has changed in my regimen, and I don't get "high" from it since it's such a small amount and I always eat after taking my Lialda anyway.

While I don't think it's for everyone, it's worth at least considering. I never though I'd be a "daily user" of cannabis before this, but honestly it's kind of working miracles.

Thanks Octa,

You have invented a new delivery system for medical cannabis! I have heard of smoke, edibles, topical but never via Lialda. A combo pill is needed.

The oil available here is by pure Plant Naturals and labeled as "virtually non-psychoactive".
the dose is 1/4 to 1 ml, or 7 to 30 drops. I estimate 7 drops is 2mg of CBD and 30 drops is 8mg.
I am note sure what an ideal dose of CBD is, and I doubt anyone does. But it would be nice to have a vague idea to start.

Appreciate your input. It's good to hear positive stories.

This is where a qualified MMJ doctor comes in handy, under medical MJ, a doctor monitors and helps, especially for people that are not familiar with MJ....they also RX you the dosage, the lowest to mid usually for beginners and work from there. It's like individualized for each person actually (dosage and strains) plus different doses and strains help with a variety of issues too. It also varies as to how long it takes to work and such for each person and some cannot tolerate it at all (but that doesn't mean it should be knocked because like everything else, what works for some doesn't work for all.
