Hey all - so been using Canasa suppositories for about a month or so, and it was always a bit difficult to use, so I started using Petroleum Jelly to assist the last night or so. Just looking at the patient info and seeing that it says specifically not to do that. So of course I feel like an idiot about not looking first. Anyway - does anyone know why?

Thanks - fell well everyone

My guess would be that it's not water soluble like ky jelly is for example.

Probably any kind of lubricant could prevent the medication to have optimal contact with the colon mucosa. When I've used supps I found that melting a little the side of insertion with hot water it's the best way to make easier to insert it.
