I have used butt cream, like calmoseptine. In a really severe case, I had my doctor call in some lidocaine gel for me. I think there are some better formulations for numbing the area for fissures and such. You should go get seen, maybe you have a fissure - those hurt bad.

Thanks notsosicklygirl, I called dr. Back for some gel or something. He saw me last Tuesday and I never thought anything could hurt so bad. He never gave me any information on us. What is a fissure? I will have to look that up. Waiting on call.

the non-prescription Dibucaine Ointment works well for me. also sold as nupercanal.

Also ask you gi about meds to reduce bile acid. Some cholesterol drugs, like Welchol, are often prescribed off-label for bile acid control.

I have warm baths with epson salts (especially after going to the toilet) -!: I wipe with plain, non-perfumed wet wipes - the cool temperature helps me put the fire out. I think the reason it burns is that we are passing a whole bunch of inflammatory type cells that are causing a reaction on our skin, that's all I can think it is, I get it all the time too when I'm sick

"What is a fissure?"

MayoClinic.org said...
An anal fissure is a small tear in the thin, moist tissue (mucosa) that lines the anus. Anal fissures typically cause pain and bleeding with bowel movements. It's caused by inflammation of the anorectal area, caused by Crohn's disease or another inflammatory bowel disease

Most anal fissures get better with simple treatments, such as increased fiber intake or sitz baths. Some people with anal fissures may need medication or, occasionally, surgery.

Ooh, I used to call that "lava poop" because that was what it felt like to me. My anus was finally cleared up by a cream my GYN(!) prescribed. It is named Lotrisone, and it contains both an anti-fungal and a steroid. It had my chronically itchy, sore, bleeding anus healed up in less than a week. If you don't get relief from the more standard UC things, you might ask your doctor about this. Good luck.

Is your poo really sticky, the butt soreness happens to me with sticky poo, which needs many many wipes.
Antibiotic cream, and prep H, seems to work for me, also sitz baths.
Put it on after every time you go, I usually take a day to recover from the burning if it happens.
The other stuff suggested is also good.

I use something similar- AD Cream, as it doesn't have the smell that the diaper cream does. I sometimes feel like it's my fault bc maybe I don't wipe wel enough but I think it's just par for the course for us. I hope u get some relief soon!
