I am proud to say I am using CBD oil for my UC, and in the last 5 months I have had amazing results.
I would like to invite any questions anyone has.

Diagnosed UC in 2011
Ostomy installed in 2014
Jpouch installed late 2014

I have had pretty good success with the pouch....the usual pouchitis and some occasional flare ups of inflammation.

Started on CBD oil 24% back in Aug 2016.
I have never felt healthier and I can sleep through the night most of the time!

Very happy to hear of another spoonie who's found solace in cannabis oil. I used RSO/CBD/THC oil throughout most of my flare ups and it proved to be very effective for pain, appetite and lessening bleeding. Without the oil I've noticed I take longer to get in remission. It would stop the urgency to have a BM 90% of the time, but sometimes it was hard to manage the dosing and I'd end up passing out. Thankfully it's legal (for the moment) where I live.

Just curious, what kind of oil are you using and at what dosage?

Personally, all my symptoms began when I quit smoking marijuana. Didn't go near the stuff for a year until symptoms got really bad. I'm back to 1 hit every other day, and within a week of starting again I have had 1 bm/day, no pain, no urgency, tenesmus, frequency, also less gas, less mucus, and even had 2 days without any blood (and I have seen blood every single day for a year, so it's pretty magical for me)

Its a bummer responses to treatments are so 'all over the place'. But hearing everyone's successes, failures, and 'dud's' is SO helpful.

I have had Ulcerative Colitis for 31 years, during which I have experienced 5 flare-ups, so luckily, most of the time my UC has been in remission. And in the past, Predisone has been effective when I had a flare-up. However, last May, at the age of 64, I experienced my worst flare-up, experiencing pain and weight loss that left me very week. Predisone was not effective at getting me back to normal and I had started down the path of moving from Asulfazine to Humira. Reading the possible side effects of Humira caused me concerns and my wife suggested I give Cannabinoids (CBD) a try. And since we were driving through Colorado, I purchased a one month supply of medical marijuana oil. Specifically, I purchased (url removed)This oil was created specifically for children so it has a very low THC content. I do not experience a high from the oil at all. I started with 2 10mg/ml doses a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. When I started taking the oil I was winding down my Predisone dosage to 10mg a day....after taking a much higher dosage since May, as I was anticipating starting Humira as soon as the insurance paperwork was complete. But before the Humira was improved I started noticing an improvement, a reduction in bleeding, discomfort, and bowl movements. So I decided to delay starting Humira to give the CBD treatment a chance. After 6 weeks I was almost back to normal, only taking the Asulfazine and the CBD. i have continued taking the CBD oil every day and I was in complete remission after 10 weeks. I now do a daily dosage of CBD, however I have switched from the oil to the capsule dosage of 15 mg per day. The CBD capsule is a new product and It is easier to travel with than the bottle of oil and dropper used to put it in your mouth. I am a believer in CBD because I feel it worked for me and was much more affordable (with fewer potential side effects) than Humira. You can go to the (website removed) to get more information. And because they have classified this as a hemp product (due to the low THC), it can be shipped to any state in the US.

The only side effects I have noticed is that I drink a lot more water and have the need to pee more often. I shared information with my doctor about the success I had with the CBD treatment and she was skeptical, but said she would do a little research and I am looking forward to my next colonoscopy in a month to get there opinion on how by gut looks compared to the other 17 colonoscopies I have had through the years.

(Please no url to products for sale, looks very spammy)

I am sad that the moderator removed the name of the CBD product and the vendor. This CBD product was developed specifically for use by children and has been the topic of multiple prime time news shows. Do the research as this product is a high quality CBD product that allows for treatment without the effects of THC. I find it interesting that the reference to Humira since it is a vendor specific product, so I will assume that I can provide the name of the drug, Charlotte's Web.

We often get one-time posters selling products, or promoting specific for profit websites. If CBD oil is effective then I'm sure the brand will not make a difference, and others will still benefit. MJ and other like products are often discussed and some here usw them with success in helping their symptoms. One of many things to try, with no guarantee of anything working for everyone.

Mom of UC boy. I use a fillable gelatin capsule called "00" that's the size. You can buy it at your local "Smoke Shop." Most companies send a syringe with the oil and its easy to fill.
I use 6-8 capsules a day depends on....Good Day Bad Day....
Each capsule is about 1ml.
Daytime: I use High CBD....around 24%, with 0.08% THC. There is no High at all. No THC.
At night: I use capsules with 1/2 CBD and 1/2 THC. I sleep all night 6-8hrs (not since 2011)

For those with limited success, you NEED to make sure your CBD is high quality. I started with a 10-12% and saw very little change.
When I finally got access to a 24% CBD oil It was night and day.

One more comment on Charlotte's Web. It is an MJ product but because the manufacturer took the time and effort to have the product reclassified as a hemp product due to very low THC and to make it available to children and other throughout the US, it can be ordered and legally shipped to any location in the US.

I just saw CBD/hemp products being advertised at the local convenience store. Kinda skeptical that it's not refrigerated, but I suppose it isn't required to. Last year I was traveling east Africa during a bad flare and found similar products, but I honestly think they were fraudulent. I will only trust cannabinoid oils coming from legitimate dispensaries or companies providing % info on extraction.

Interesting.. Right before I was dx'd with UC I went on a 2 month detox which included quitting marijuana. (Of course I rebounded and sugar binged afterwards) I wonder now if MJ was holding back my IBS/IBD symptoms the whole time.

GRB,

How are you doing on the CBD oil? I have been taking CBD oil for over a year now, and it definitely helps. I have been considering taking a different brand but there is so much info out there that it is overwhelming.

Thanks!

Hi - I'm also interested in the brand of CBD oil that you've found effective. I've been reading and reading about CBD oil and haven't been able to find any straightforward information for many of the brands about the strength (%), how it's extracted, and the recommended dose for UC - please let us know what you've had good results with - thanks !

Dear all,
Yes, I would like to try the CBD oil too. How do we find out the most genuine brand? There is a FDA report indicating that most brands contain what they claim (http://www.newhope.com/botanicals/fda-finds-only-2-24-cbd-products-have-what-they-say-they-have-them).
Best wishes to you all.

I got tired of reading different opinions on the internet and different marketing spins and picked up a 1 oz. container of Charlotte's Web Everyday Advanced CBD oil. What swayed me their way was that

- I thought that their web site was clear and straightforward as far as explaining the products,
- they use the CO2 extraction method which I have read is less harmful to the extracted compounds,
- their product contains not only the CBD itself but a lot of the related beneficial compounds,
- there is a local retail source (near Dallas Texas) for their products,
- they have a phone number that leads to a real human that speaks English clearly and understandably,
- the guy answered all of my questions with responses that made sense to me,
- AND they have a 30 day money back guarantee (verify this for yourselves).

The 1oz. size is supposed to last for 30 days (2 - .5 ml doses a day).

My symptoms all started a few weeks after I quit weed. However, I often smoked it in tobacco leaf so cant say for sure if it was the Marijuana or tobacco, regardless, cessation of smoking seems to be a common thing with UC. Weed helped my symptoms after my first flare ,but I honestly feel better not smoking and on the real meds.

Can CBD oil show up in a drug test? Unsure of how it all works. It's perfectly legal where I am but I'm unsure about the drug test side or how an employer would react to it?

While I was flaring, CBD oil gave me horrible pain and diarrhea.

While not in a flare, it makes me sleepy... I'm honestly not sure how well it helps me.
