Anyone else notice when you don't sleep much you start to exhibit symptoms?

Whenever I don't get enough sleep, I get diarrhea with mucous.

Never gone into a full blown flare because of it though.

Whenever I am not sleeping enough my body tells me. Either through allergies or my gut. See if you can sneak in a nap if you are tired.

No.

I've always been like this too. If I don't get my 8-9 hours of sleep I'll see some issues.

Oh I definitely notice having adequate sleep and being well rested make a huge difference. If I start to become overtired and notice some symptoms cropping up, I will take a rest day where I just stay on the sofa and nap whenever the feeling overtakes me, or just read/watch TV otherwise. Admittedly, I am in a position where I can do that (being retired with no kids to look after, and a fairly self-sufficient husband who is able to keep himself fed) and it is not so easy for everyone to take a rest day whenever they need.

The tiredness could mean you have mild inflammation. If you have been going through peiods of extreme distress and not getting sleep, it would lower your immunity even more or cause unease in the gastro tract even from the distress of not sleeping.

So questions......are you on meds and what? Are you on probiotics? And the days you tend to have diarrhea, what has changed regarding food and drink intake?

q
*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.
Status: ...Asacol 3 @ 2x daily; Salofalk enema @ 3rd night (nightly/ flares, tapered/maintenance)
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~Bentylol 20mg as needed; Zantac 150mg; Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma);Effexor XR 37.5 (depression)
~vitamins/minerals/supplements; Probiotics....(RenewLife Ultimate Flora Critical Care+Primadophilus Reuteri capsules @ bedtime)
~Metamucil capsules 7 @ 2x daily with meals; Vitamin D 4500 IU
~URSO 500mg @ 2x daily for Primary Biliary Cholangitis
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
