Fatigue is common as an ulcerative colitis side effect whether you are on medications or not. It tends to get worse with flares and get better as we heal. Some do experience fatigue as an ongoing challenge even when in remission.
Have you had any recent bloodwork done to see if you are anemic (have low blood iron), have low vitamin's D, B, or B12? As any of those at low levels can cause fatigue. Some of us are anemic and get iron infusions (severe cases), or use various iron supplements, or increase out iron intake by choice of foods.
If you think the medications might be causing them then there is now a generic for asacol/mesalamine called Mesalamine DR from Zydus pharmaceuticals out of NJ. Here's more info about
them, you can ask your pharmacy about
them and your costs. www.zydususa.com/product-details/?id=216
