Yes. If you have to take them, be sure to take a really good probiotic.

You can also avoid them in some situations since they tend to be over prescribed. Just make sure you have an infection you can't clear without antibiotics. I've been prescribed them for things that ended up clearing on their own including bacterial v, sinus/ear infections etc.

Like Quincy, I also did not flare when I took them, but was in a deep remission for several years and also took more probiotics. I did get more stomach discomfort and looser stools on them (lasted 1-2 weeks and then bounced back to normal), but did not flare.

Yes .Had bronchitis few years back and PC gave me zithromax. Put me in hospital for 5 days bc i couldn't stop the big D .I asked my Gastro to be my PC because i don't trust many Drs with my UC.Gastro has given me Ciproflaxin which has been good for me when needed.I brake Cipro in half bc i don't want colon flaring up in case full strenghth might do me harm

Every time for me. Even a quick 5 day Zithromax. I have not taken an antibiotic in over 7 years, knock on wood. It was the same cycle three times: sinus infection - antibiotics - flare - prednisone - weakened immune system - sinus infection.

Finally worked with an ENT who prescribed me an antibiotic nasal rinse, something they would typically just use in the office when flushing sinuses for patients. Really seemed to help. And as others note, antibiotics are so often over prescribed, especially for sinus.

Good luck and definitely up the probiotics and drink real kefir at leastw twice a day; the plain stuff if you can tolerate it (just plain yogurt taste) so you can avoid excess sugar in the flavored ones.
