Had my 4th colonoscopy yesterday. UC in remission. But now, a day later, I am having a lot of pain in my gut. I think it may be trapped gas, but I don't know how to expel it. Also, my heart rate is quite high, about 104. This is very unusual for me. Any thoughts?

Hi....it could be the pain and possible anxiety that can increase your heart rate and blood pressure.

You could try a tummy massage moving from lower right, up and across under ribs, down the left side and across and down to pubic bone. That can help move gas along.

If tou have a swiss ball, laying down on your tummy and moving side to side will help move gas.

Have you eaten anything? If you have any antispasmodics, it can help. Fennel tea pr peppermint will eases gas.

A warm microwave bag on your tummy after a warm bath or shower. Tylenol and a cup of warm tea can soothe.

If it's not improved by tomorrow, call your doctor's pffice and ask for an antispasmodic.

Are you on any meds at this point?

I'm not on any meds other than my usual Apriso. I also remembered that the Doctor said he took some biopsys so that could also be the source of the pain. I will call the doc today.

Good idea to call, just to be safe. It coukd be something or it could be nothing. A scope is invasive and our systems can be upset for several days afterwards, passing bloodn having discomfort, etc. At the worst end of the spectrum, it's possible to get a perforation from the scope and fever and pain are likely signs. I hope it's nothing, but i always play it safe, ask the doctors!

Let us know how you're doing and the result of contacting the doc.
