Squats! Start with bodyweight and attempt 3 sets of ten squats. If you can do all 3 sets of 10, add light dumbbells. The goal is to continue adding weight week by week.
Continue adding as you are able to complete them. Once you can do a total of 40 lbs, start using a barbell and continue to slowly add weight as you get comfortable. Learn proper technique on the internet or with a trainer. Do them twice a week. There is absolutely no better exercise to strengthen your leg, butt and core muscles, lose weight, and increase bone density. Well worth the effort of learning to do properly for anyone male/female/young/old.
