They did stool tests and she at one point while in the Hospital tested positive for CDiff and also some parasite....she was on meds for that for a while but then the emergency surgery happened and everyone seemed to forget about
that. They couldn't get past the section of her colon that was removed because it was so inflamed. A day before her bowel burst hey we're trying to force her to do the prep for another colonoscopy and it was so painful that she was on the floor and screaming - like how did no one catch that her bowel was about
to burst until her BP tanked the next night? They thought it was just painful because of the UC or that she was being dramatic.
She's getting another colonoscopy soon. Maybe that will provide more clarity - but I don't want her to get it, I don't trust these tests or doctors and the prep is so brutal, I just want her to give her bowel a rest for a year. I should also say that she's not elderly, she's 67 - this ordeal has aged her by about
20 years though.
I'm still confused on the biopsies. Her doctors said the biopsies ruled out crohns, because at one point they thought she might have that because they saw other inflammation with a scan - but that is all the biopsy told us.
She never had UC symptoms before - she was diagnosed in January, started on mesalamine, was allergic, was on prednisone for months, then started entyvio - she had three doses of it. None of it made her any better. She had a reaction to the last entyvio dose and then went into the hospital soon after for the last time .
