Been on aza for six moths now.
Had a sigmoidoscopy 4 weeks go that showed my rectum to be clear, patchy inflammation in the sigmoid to 30 cm and then a stricture.
The man who scoped me said it was crohns or that the suppositories/enemas have been doing a really good job on the rectum. I haven't had the biopsy results and am waiting for a gastro appointment. All other biopsies I have had in the past say colitis.
I have been using salofalk enemas nightly for two years. I asked if it was worth changing the enemas so 5 days ago started using asacol foam enemas (The suppositories are asacol).
I have never had a problem holding salofalk all night but the asacol is a different matter. The first night lost it after ten minutes, the next night lost some in bed when I passed wind. The next 3 nights was only able to retain it for about two hours. It makes me feel like my colon has blown up and I get a lot of discomfort and it keeps me awake.
I haven't noticed any significant changes in my symptoms. I think the aza may finally after six months be starting to work although I am still taking 15mg of pred. I have not seen any blood now for about 3 weeks and I am going 2 times in the morning then maybe two times in the evening without any urgency. They are pretty much formed.
Do I go back to the salofalk or persevere with the asacol. Does any one have any experiences of foam enemas?
