Just wondering if anyone else has hip pain. If I sit down for more than 20-30 mins my hips hurt really bad. Like I’m 80 years old or ran a marathon or something.

Never had it before. I’ve had 4 infusions now and been off prednisone for about 2 months or so. Pain goes away once I get going but super tight and aches when I first start walking.

Thanks

Have you been tested for Remicade antibodies? I’d let your GI know about your symptoms

No. He told me to go a rheumatologist.

I know two people who needed to get hip replacements after taking prednisone. It doesn't happen to too many people but you should tell your doctor. Prednisone is thee savior and the devil all in one.

Does it happen during and a few weeks after you infusion and then get better before your next infusion?

I had a reaction four years after starting Remicade, it started happening during my infusions and then get better before my next infusion.

Once I discontinued Anti-tnfs the pains went away

I agree that Prednisone is a possible culprit here. Longer-term use can cause a condition called osteonecrosis, which is degeneration of the bone with significant pain and eventual loss of function.

I was only on pred for 2 months. 40 mg and IV for 5 days in the hospital. Seems like the hips didn’t hurt till after my first couple infusions. They didn’t hurt while I was on prednisone.

How long have you been off of Prednisone? I would also get severe joint pains from steroid withdrawal.

I had my hip replaced last year from long term Prednisone use.

I would suggest to have dexa scan done. I didn't have hip pain or bone pain el from remicade. Maybe my knees felt stiff in the winter.

YES! I had the same thing, started after my 3rd (?) infusion. It was awful for about a month and thought I was having Remi-induced lupus (I wasn't). No antibodies, either. It resolved completely after the 5th infusion. We thought it might have been related to prednisone/pred withdrawals, too.

Have you had xrays? Are you an avid exerciser?

No X-Rays.

Definitely not the raw milk. Been tested for that. I was an avid runner prior to UC and never had pain like this or even close to this.

I have tried to get back to running but I get really tired half mile into my runs. It’s ridiculous. I could run 5k-10k with no problems before. Kinda sucks.

The Prednisone will make you weaker and have less endurance. It will take a while for you to regain it.

When I went to the Rheumy the first thing they did was take x-rays, it showed necrosis in my hip. If it didn't show anything then they would have run blood tests.

This is probably your sacroiliac joint inflamed. I have the same problems all over my body. Joint pain is a symptom of UC, with or without medications. It can be worse than the bowel symptoms.
