Hey guys, just wandering whether anyone has experienced side effects from Salofalk (meslazine)

I’ve been taking 1.5mgs twice a day (granules) for nearly a year now... at first I didn’t notice any side effects, but for a few months now I’ve been getting headaches nearly everyday (I wake up with a headache most days) and just general feelings of fatigue and tiredness. I’ve had a blood test done and my iron levels and thyroid are all normal... im sleeping and eating well, exercising and drinking plenty of water - doing all the normal ‘healthy’ things - so I can’t really think of anything else that could be making me feel this way. I’m seeing my specialist in two weeks and am going to speak with her about how I’ve been feeling... hopefully she can shed some light on the possibilities of the Salofalk causing this? I’ve googled the side effects and headaches and tiredness are included ... so I’m assuming it’s possible. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this? And what they’ve done about it?

Hard to say. I know fatigue is something that plagues a number of us with UC. And the same goes for headaches. Those can happen to those of us who are on medications and also who are not on any medications. I'd bet their more side effects of UC than anything else.

You could always ask your gasteroenteroligist to have you try a different formulation of mesalamine, as an experiment to see if it helps. You could try pentasa, as an example.
