When I have acne, usually it's cystic acne. Currently I have one huge cyst that is inflamed and painful.

I read that I can crush Aspirin and apply it on skin. The problem is that I am scared because it can be absorbed through the skin.

I don't want to overuse it, I just want to use it on this one cyst.

How safe is this ?

i would think absorbtion is minimal, and there is no topical irritation of the colon, so ...

No problem....it will dry out that area possibly. You can purchase salicylate acne preparations.

Well, it appears my acne got inflamed because of the cold. I had this happen to me before.

Thanks for the help. I did do it, it helped, but only temporarily. It's red and painful again.

What products do you use for washing and moisture.
Salicylic is what is called an exfoliant.....it wont calm really. Contrary to the fact it's an anti inflammatory....it is an acid as well.

After every shower, I use the La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel. I don't use a moisturizer. I've been thinking about buying one, but they are expensive. I could get a cheap one, but I don't trust it.

When it comes to other skin products, I use an Adapalene cream (retinoid cream). I think it has a great effect on me. But this time, it didn't help very much (with this cyst). I love this cream, it doesn't really dry out my skin. And multiple people commented that my skin looks good.

I sometimes switch from Adapalene cream to Duac Cream (Benzoyl Peroxide + Clindamycin), but it dries out my skin. So I tend to stick with the Adapalene cream.

I've read that it DOES calm down the redness. Also, I am using Acetylsalicylic Acid, and not Salicylic acid. Why? Because it was recommended by the Pharmacist.

Hi..sorry for the late reply. I see that BHA is acetacylic acid, yet labeled as salicylic acid...but good to know.
How is the one yiu use labeled and what brand?

I use Paula's Choice moisturising gel and haven't had problems. I also have the 2% BHA lotion...I lime it!
I just ordered a calm moisturiser and will get it next week....hoping to have good results with it.

Fine line with products, results, worsening and maintaining. I'm 63 and dealing with issues Ive not ever had. Seemingly unique to me and others who have ended up picking and ultimately labeled a psych issue. My last doc suggested I wash, scrub and exfoliate twice a day. When things finally clear (always hopeful), i may consider it. A week of that regimen set me back bigtime....i wash with a product called Bye Bye Blemish. Doesn't overdry surprisingly.

I do use clindamycin lotion on spots.

Have you looked into Paula's Choice? If you're in US, at least exchange won't be added to the cost 😊

I am the queen of acne sadly. I never tried asprin crushed, but my dermatologist used to give me cirpo to dissolve in toner and use on skin. For me, the only thing that works is hormonal pills, or antibiotics. It's basically the lesser of evils. I've found the hormonal pills to be less troublesome than the antibiotics. I get yeast imbalances from antibiotics easily. I never found the topicals to help, even RX. I have aczone here and I used that on a pimple recently with no faster improvement than doing nothing. I've tried a lot, differen, ziana, clyndimycin topically, the cipro, all sorts of acids. It's really just the tablets that help - birth control, spirnolactone, antibiotics. I hate it.

I am from Europe. The name of the drug is "Rompirin".

Not in the US. Paula's Choice is available in some of the surrounding countries, but doesn't seem to be available in mine.

I crush one pill and add a few drops of water. Enough to make a paste, but still keep it less watery (it leaks down when I add too much water). Then I apply it, preferably with a cotton swab. I keep it there for 15 minutes. And then wash it off.

I've read that some people use 2-3 pills or even more. But I didn't want to do that because of fear of overdoing it. And I wouldn't have where to put all of that paste smile.

I can feel it working. The part where I apply it starts itching.

A couple of cysts appeared on my shoulders. And the ones I already had started getting inflamed. So I used it on my shoulders. I didn't have enough to cover all of it, so I applied it in a thinner layer and left it on for about 45-60 minutes. My skin is a bit red and it itches, which is good, it means it's working.

I think this approach is stronger and works faster than a Retinoid cream.
