Just did 4 pens for my first loading dose but hesitating on taking methotrexate, I may start it in a few days just to give myself some time between these new drugs. I'm actually more worried about metho than humira...

Does anyone take this combination?

I just stopped Entyvio after 11 months, before that I was on Remicade. Currently taking prednisone 25mg (from 50mg) -- been stuck in a flare for almost a year. Finally seeing progress now so I'm hoping the Humira clears me of these last few hurdles.

Also take Align, Liada, Zoloft, Kolnopin, Vitamin D, Metamucil, and smoke marijuana daily.

Thanks all

Have you tried 6mp or imuran?

I took mtx with remicade for a while... I was flaring while on 6mp and it didn't seem like an adjustment would help. I guess I was on the right dose, or the max dose I could take. I never responded well to anything. the mtx in combo didn't really do anything for me. Nothing did though. I ended up having surgery and this has been worlds better than all that stuff - and i am drug free...

I get it though, you've tried almost everything. Seems like the doctor is throwing whatever he/she can at it to attempt to get you back in good health.

I wonder if you could ask about something like cyclosporine as a rescue. Stuck at 25-50mg for a year is not good.

Tried 6MP long before the Remicade -- glad you're better.

Exactly -- trying to throw everything at it. Cyclosporine was discussed but decided against it.

Tapering pred in the meantime

Methotrexate isn't very common with UC patients, but is common with our friends with Crohn's disease (Or Crohn's-colitis which is a gray diagnosis that's kinda UC, but kinda Crohn's). Usually imuran or 6MP is used for UC, as the research supports them helping us (no research with UC and MTX). That said, we've had a few use it over the years.

Curious why MTX was chosen? I know you said you had tried 6MP before, was there no affect or did you experience bad side effects from 6MP?

Hi, I used MTX for a while and it worked very well for my UC, but ironically not so well for my spondyloarthropathy. It is important to take folic acid every day with MTX, I took the maximum dose of 5mg a day, to ward of any feelings of sickness.
Stopped smoking Jan 2013. Diagnosed Left sided UC, 8th Feb 2014.
Gluten, Dairy, Sulfite, Salicylate, and Histamine intolerant.
Home FMT treatment in July 2016 to ward off reoccurrence of C DIfficile.
Failed Pentasa, Azathioprine and finally Methotextrate due to allergies/intolerance. Taking Humira. Have finally come off Prednisone Yay!!!
