Has anyone experienced extremely dry eyes with UC? I am using eye drops every hour. I’vetried Refresh, Systane & Bausch & Lomb. I’m taking special Thera-tears fish oil onc3 a day. I know the area I live in is dry.But there is no relief with my dry eyes. I use a pc for work and realize that is not good to stare at all day. I only work 3 days a week. The dry eyes are causing me anxiety when I drive and go about my daily life. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should go to the eye dr. Eye problems can be caused by inflammation, and since we have IBD, we are at increased risk of having these issues. There are probably prescription drops that would help a lot more.

Was it Red (Sherry) who had an issue with dry eyes? Pretty sure she (or whoever it was) consulted a doctor so I echo this advice. My eyes are dry-ish, nothing too bad, but I have had a few bouts with uveitis and that is not something to mess around with.

Could it be sjogren's syndrome? Red-34/sherry had that. It's inflammation related.

Thank you everyone. I was reading about Sjogren’s and have a few of those symptoms. I’m going to the eye doctor tomorrow morning. I will let you know what he says. I’ve already been to my MD this week for a sinus infection. I was also reading that swollen sinuses could cause dry eyes but this is drier than I’ve ever experience. Thanks again everyone.

Definitely request to be tested for Sjogrens. My sister has it.

If you have rosacea, one can have it affecting the eyes with the same symptoms but with redness as well.

After multiple eye surgeries last year, (that's another story), I started having dry eyes especially in the morning. Taking fish oil and hyaluronic acid cleared up the problem very well.

This is also available but I haven't actually tried maqui berry for myself.

I’m back from the eye dr. He said I was allergic to the eye drops I had been using. He recommended preservative free eye drops. And I’m on a steroid eye drop for two weeks to reset my system. He also found my lid glands in my eyes were clogged. I’m using baby shampoo and a warm cloth twice a day to unclog them. My eyes already feel better since I’ve stopped using eye drops. Thank you for everyone’s suggestions.

Thanks for the update. I am happy you're feeling better. The steroid drops should get it headed in the right direction quickly!
