Using the now famous epithet of our fearless leader, I have a lot of localized pain in my ****hole.

I use calmoseptine and last week I tried preparation h (lots of inflamed tissue and possible hemmies), which seemed to help.

I use Balneol for post-poop cleanup, and I use warm water and soft cloth to be sure I'm as clean as I can get.

I looked at the ingredients of anusol and it appears to be cortisone cream, primarily, so I'm not even sure that I want to try that on my poor painful heinie.

Anything I'm missing? What do you use?

I'm including my signature but it probably needs updating. I've been doing great for quite a while and then about a month ago started flaring and it's only getting worse. Saw my GI on Wednesday, and later that day started bleeding a lot. I don't want to go back onto prednisone (starting steroid enemas today) but I don't want this flare to continue or get worse ugh.

The HC supps are probably the best if it's due to inflammation/hemmies, those can reduce it and make you feel better. I have used lydocaine ointment for butt pain as well, but that just numbs, ultimately you want to heal it so you don't have the pain. They also sell these handheld bidets. They are basically a water bottle with a spout that you can use to spray water there instead of all the wiping, but keeping the area too wet can come with its own set of issues, like risk of yeast... it's a happy balance you need to achieve. If it gets really bad, where anusol, or prep h, or tucks, or lidocaine, or calmoseptine, aren't doing much, time to go to the doctor. It could be something like a fissure.

Janey....i forget if you can use mesalamine or not.

You could try sitz bath if it's a fissure.

Hope the enemas help...

*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.
