Sorry for the long post. For background I've been on Humira since middle of last year which has kept my UC in control.

Over the last 6 days I've been dealing with some irritable/slightly painful bowel movements. The first day I had irritation but my stool was normal. However when I wiped, I saw bright red blood on my toilet paper. The second day everything was normal in the bowel movement except irritation again, but this time no blood on the toilet paper so I thought I was fine. However on the third day my stool started out coming out normal but at the end it was coming out more loose and unformed and I saw a drop of blood in the toilet. The next two days after that it was normal with some very large stools but no blood in the toilet. However I was still seeing very slight spots of red when I wiped. And then finally this morning, again I had normal stools to start but at the end it was more loose stools. However today my toilet paper was more yellowish when I wiped. The only time I saw blood in the toilet was that drop of blood I saw on the third day.

As you can tell the bowel movements have been extremely inconsistent over the last week, but the recurring part is the irritation each day during the bowel movement and an irritation feeling after I'm done and a little bit thoughout the day as well. I'm not having any other symptoms (one bm/day, no abdominal pain, no urgency, no change in appetite) so I'm not sure what to think.

I had a colonoscopy almost two weeks ago (about a week before this started) and they removed a small polyp that was inflammatory in the lower area but everything else was normal. Also had h.pylori infection in stomach but finished antibiotics for those a week and a half ago.

Another couple things I've noticed is since the colonoscopy, I feel like I've been having an increase of the amount of stool im having when I go and when I wipe, there's not much on the toilet paper and if there is, it's a very slight faded color. The only time I saw anything of significance over on the toilet paper over the last 1.5-2 weeks was the first day I described when I saw bright red on the toilet paper.

Just wondering If anyone had thoughts or have had similar experiences.

The blood could be from hemorrhoids, and the loose stools could mean you have a touch of a stomach bug, there’s one that is going around, but I would contact your doctor just in case! If it is a flare wouldn’t want it to blow out of proportion.

Have you done probiotics for follow up from the antibiotics? The colonoscopy itself can throw you off too. I am still feeling extra off from mine. It seems like two weeks might be to fast to go from no inflmation per scope to inflamed to the point of bleeding, but I don't really know.

I took align probiotic while I was taking antibiotics and continued but then I stopped after I saw blood on my toilet paper that first day. Maybe I should go back to that. I also eat yogurt most days.

sounds more like a reaction to the events of the recent past - the things mentioned certainly have the potential to temporarily mess with your colon - i would give it a couple more weeks before getting too concerned -

ya, definitely try the probiotics again, and if you have any rectal meds around, add them into your routine for a bit -

What were the visuals regarding inflammation during your scope?

I would definitely suggest good quality probiotics....Genuine Health Advanced Gut Health is a good one...maybe start with the 50 billion one at bedtime.
As well, add rectal meds just because....depending on the extent of the visual inflammation.

When do you get the results of the biopsies?

q
*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.
