I got a loop ileostomy on Feb 12. I've noticed that the stool is coming out higher on my stoma. To the point of it coming out where it connects to my stomach. Anyone have any experience with this?

All loops are weird and different from an end ileo. They actually have a dome shape, and 2 outputs. One output comes down from the top, and another goes down to the pouch. Mine was always pointing in a weird/bad direction, because the dome shape doesn't lend well to it functioning in a way that you would want it to. The end is like a funnel that points one end into a pouch. So much better!!

Look at this picture and you will see why it's more complicated:

Have you tried convex supplies? If you can put it on in a way that it helps to push the stoma out and down, it should help, but sometimes seeing an ostomy nurse is the most helpful for finding a solution to these issues. The loop is temporary at least. Are you having step 2 in a month or so?

I'm having a 3 step procedure so I honestly miss the end it was so nice. Odd to say this when I was disgusted by it at first haha. I'm not having any leakage problems I was just worried by the placement compared to the simple end. I got step 2 February 12th and I go for a checkup March 28th (later than previously thought due to the PA snow) but the original plan was around 6 weeks after step 2 so we 'll see when the schedule the next one. Can't wait for it to be done
