There is never any excuse for people to denigrate those who share what has worked for them individually. Nobody is saying you should follow their protocol, or if you try an alternative nobody says you must stop with conventional meds that were prescribed for you.
I remember a few years ago some people on this forum were posting that they were greatly helped by eating coconut macaroons. I didn't tear into those posters and criticize them like some members here did, I have a lot of respect for each individual's personal experience and will not judge. But privately I was laughing just as hard as everyone else.
Well now science has recently discovered that monolaurin (lauric acid in coconuts and macaroons) is a potent antiviral, strong enough even to help manage HIV virus. And that some of the extraintestinal symptoms of IBD are cold sores and rashes caused by opportunistic viruses that are easily controlled by lauric acid found in macaroons.
So I don't laugh at those who recommend coconut macaroons for IBD anymore.
