I'd mention it to your gasteroenterologist office (not sure if they'd tell you to skip aza and pred until you recover). I'd suspect you'd be fine, just expect chicken pox to last longer and be a little more severe due to the immunosuppression (pred and aza).

My reviews on Yelp and Trip Adviser will be terrible: @$10,000 a night with uncomfortable beds and awful food, but at least the drugs are good at this hospital.

Sorry to hear that. Chicken pox in adults can be pretty rough. I had chicken pox at age 30 (before I had UC), and I have never felt so bad in my life. Fever, headache, body aches, terrible fatigue. The blisters make it painful to lie down or even rest your head on a pillow. Got steadily worse for about 7 days, and then it took another week to really feel normal again, and a third week for the blisters to heal (and I still have pock marks 20 years later).

Unfortunately I have never heard of any effective treatment. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen for headaches and fever. Aveeno oatmeal baths to soothe the skin. Those help but don't fully alleviate symptoms.

I went to a GP who told me "Either you have chicken pox and you'll be better in 2 weeks or you have smallpox and you'll be dead. I can't help you in either case."

Hope it goes better for you, but you should be prepared to be pretty sick for a couple of weeks.

the chicken blisters are viral and the ulcers in colon area utoimmune - once cannot turn into the other.

treat pox symptoms with antiviral, and acetaminophen. not sure what antibiotic and syrup are doing. When antibiotic is done, go heavy on probiotics to help undo damage from antibiotic.

topical on skin/blisters

good luck
