Hi All,

This is my first colonoscopy prep and I'm getting myself in a tailspin of fear because I cant really find any info about the prep I was given. It's called Clenpiq? The few reviews I read weren't great :/ a lot of mentions of headache and vomiting. The clinic gave this to me because they had samples but I'm wondering if I should just go the more classic route. I'm fearing I have UC and I don't want to do a prep that's going to land me in the hospital with dehydration. If anyone has used this Clenpiq stuff I would love some feedback, or even just advice about using something better. Thanks!

I really haven’t had any bad side effects to it Except for dehydration but not enough to go to the emergency room also I’m beginning to go to the bathroom more an more which is good second dosage is in 2 hours I will say that having all this “diarrhea “ is a little uncomfortable for my rectum so tense up and have to relax myself to let it out

Hey Borb,

What a relief to have someone to talk to that's going through the same exact thing. Also a relief to hear Clenpiq isnt bad. Was it hard to drink? Gross tasting or anything? They told me it was the easiest prep but I panicked a little when I tried to google reviews and couldn't find a thing. If you're up to it, let me know how your whole prep and scope goes!

It doesn’t taste very well but it was tolerable to be honest I used to drink gross beer all the time so I’m used to chugging gross drinks lol I was told the same thing some of the Other preps are incredibly disgusting so I’m told it could be worse an also here these are smaller then most preps too so it’s easier to take since we don’t have to drink as much . Just took the second dosage I’ll let you know if I have any bad side effects to it or anything. I’ll let you know how the scope goes too I’m ready to get this over with I’m so nervous filled with so much anxiety and worry ..

It sounds like you have a lot of health anxiety which does not make this any easier. Drink gatoraid along with the prep to help keep yourself hydrated. Don't worry, you'll do fine.

Had no bad side effects from Clenpiq update! had colonoscopy today everything came back normal my whole colon looked fine he took microscopic biopsies but he said they will most likely come back normal as well since everything looked okay my G I even apologized for telling me to prepare for UC.

Rachel, the procedure itself was not bad i came in super nervous the doctors kept me calm before i knew it i fell asleep from the anastasia an woke up felt as if the procedure took 1 second the worst part was the prep was having all the "D" my rectum was sore after all the "D" but no bad side effects except for dehydration also for some reason i felt really cold i was told this was normal though when is your colonoscopy ? best wishes

Ipoop, I definitely have health anxiety :/ I'm OCD as well which doesn't help when taking medicines. Borborygmi, that's great news! Thank you so much for keeping me updated, it's actually been the number one thing to calm me down, especially with my fears regarding Clenpiq. I'm very glad you don't have UC! Hopefully they find out the cause of your troubles. Since our stories are so similar, I wonder if infectious colitis is to blame.

I don't know if anyone will see this, but it's prep day for me, tonight at 5pm I'll drink my first dose of Clenpiq. I tried to eat very bland and somehow Im still having a ton of stomach and back cramping today, which is making me very, very nervous. If I already feel like this I can't imagine how I'll feel after drinking an uber powerful laxative. Has anyone here gone into prepping already doing pretty bad? This cramping is more uncomfortable than what I've had in months. And again still worried about my low BP :/ any advice, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I've been severely ill when going into a prep before (we actually learned the next day, after I did the prep, that I had c diff. and my doctor cancelled the scope!). It was pretty miserable, not going to lie. You'll survive though.

Did you get stool samples done already to test for infectious causes?

Good to know it's not a rarity, I figured it couldnt be. I had a stool sample a while back to test for c.diff, it was negative but that was through my GP and my GI now thinks it's still possible that I have a light case of it. I'm also worried because I had a bit of things I didn't realize were no nos on some lists the few days before (not the liquid diet, that's today). I had a bit of mayo and butter on my bland foods, I hadnt seen them listed as nos on other lists. Going to call the GI and make sure that's okay.

You should be fine. I have never had to limit foods, other than the day before. Won't hurt to call your GI and reassure yourself though. smile I wonder why they said no mayo or butter. My GoLytely instructions do say not to have nuts or popcorn a few days before, but I've never had to do that in the past. They are even letting me have a bland breakfast the day before (toast with margarine, etc.). I'm psyched about that. Let us know how it goes tonight and tomorrow.

it was something i saw online, I'm getting myself stupid worked up and reading stuff lol. I stopped eating at midnight (woke up weird today) so I'm starting to get hungry but my angel of a husband just came in with jello and italian ice, so I think I'll make it. I don't eat too much anyway being sick, I'm sure you can relate! I'm sure I'm getting myself worked up over nothing, I'd just so been hoping today was a good day going in for my stomach. the cramps are very annoying.

I totally understand. I do the same thing (work myself up and read excessively online). You'll do fine and it will be over before you know it.

Hi All,

I took the Clenpiq about 45 minutes ago. Sort of tasted like salty cranberry dogfood lol. Nothing terrible has happened so far but the cramping I was already dealing with has heightened and is even less fun now, I suppose strong cramps are normal though. And I'm pretty nauseous/feel like I may puke here and there.I was already pretty sick today so it's working fast, already going to the bathroom. And Borb, I feel the cold thing too! More eerie than anything, just a sort of inner cold on my shoulders and upper arms.

Update: liquid is projectile shooting out of my butt lol I think I went clean pretty quick, if this is happening already I can't imagine needing the other bottle in the morning, seems like a lot

****!!! "Salty cranberry dog food." Sorry, that made me laugh pretty hard. Yeah, I never end up drinking all of my prep. I drink it until I am pooping clear or yellowish liquid.

Hi Again guys,
Sara- it has the weirdest dog food taste! It gagged me for like 2 hours. I feel pretty normal now, my BP actually rose from its usual low to a nearly perfect normal, probably due to all the salt. Although, my pulse went up to 160 at one point, but I got it back down. I'm noticing that when I go to the bathroom now it's a lot more pee than it is poop, and the poop there is is clear liquid, maybe a tinge yellow. Has anyone ever been told to skip the second bottle? I started pooping liquid with nothing in it after two gos.
