Alcohol and UC is a funny thing, some of us are not bothered by it at all (like me) when taken in moderation, others of us have a lot of difficulty with alcohol, so it's very individualized. In fact, some say drinking alcohol is much like drinking a colonoscopy-prep for them.
I am a craft-beer-snob, and enjoy many local stouts/porters and a variety of craft beers. As long as I am responsible and have no more than one beer a day (or occasionally several is okay) then I am fine. If I over indulge then I regret it.
Some of us do better with hard liquors then with beers. Some it is the reverse.
Do you have any known issues with gluten or sulfites?
Many beers and some hard alcohols are grain-based, and those of us with a non-celiac-gluten-intolerance will have issue with drinks containing it. You can always try a gluten-free beer and see if you can tolerate it.
Wines are known to be high in sulfites. If you have an allergy to sulfites, then that will bother you.
In the end, listen to your body as it knows best on what you should or should not be drinking. It's the referee that says what is allowed, what isn't and unless you want to be given a penalty and ejected from the game then you play by your body's rules ;-)
